The Season of Service is a new component to the Palau model for festival evangelism. It debuted in 2008 in Portland, Oregon, and offers an entirely new focus on sustainable, repeatable, culturally-relevant outreach opportunities. The idea is nothing revolutionary, but the results most certainly are.
• More than a new organization or entity … local existing organizations are looking for ways to enhance their own impact within the community.
• More than an initiative … city leaders are looking for lasting connections within a city, building networks between the church, civic, and corporate communities.
• More than a festival … the Palau Association is looking for a catalyst to stimulate the mindset of local believers, empowering them to have a long-term impact in their city for Christ.
• Bring churches together. (John 17:23)
• Connect them with local government agencies, mayors, service organizations, and corporations. (Romans 13:6)
• Raise awareness for the needs in a city, focusing on a handful of specific issues.
• Recruit thousands of volunteers to complete hundreds of service projects.
• Create a sustainable, long-term strategy (based around an existing system) to continue the work and partnership for years to come. (Galatians 5:14)
